STORE MANAGER / SERIOUS FOODIE - FULL TIME POSITION

This is a key role in our group managing our beautiful new store in Daylesford. You will, at the very core, be a serious foodie with a passion for local produce, artisan food and gourmet delicacies. You are most likely already in a food-related role, perhaps in a managerial role or a senior role with a lot of managerial responsibilities.

This role could be within a supermarket or grocery environment, a large busy restaurant group or even a food producing business.

You will easily be able to manage, nurture and train a team of budding foodies along with motivating experienced team members – ensuring that everyone is all working cohesively in a fun, enjoyable and customer-first environment.

You will be passionate about local producers and food establishments and be able to establish strong relationships with our suppliers – both traditional as well as small artisan producers who have never wholesaled their product before.

You know your way around a computer and can manage all electronic communication, keep across the social media channels and work closely with senior management and our brand agency to ensure that the business is always putting its best foot forward. But being part of the Maxi Food Group, the majority of administration will be handled by head office, so you aren’t required or expected to be in the office all day – we want you to be out on the floor chatting with customers, staff and suppliers as much as possible.

Like the farmers and producers that we stock, you aren’t afraid of hard work. We are a small team so everyone, including the Store Manager will help stock shelves, wipe up any messes, be able to pull a perfect brew, chat to customers about that wonderful new brie or the provenance of some gourmet sausages, bring in the tables at the end of the day and always, always, greet every customer with a wide smile and an enthusiastic attitude.

The store is currently open from 8am to 7pm, seven days a week with a likelihood that these hours may extend to 7am-8pm. Whilst this is a full-time role, your roster will be a rolling one and therefore you will need to have flexibility across these time periods.

DELI SUPERVISOR / dedicated foodie

afternoon/evening midweek roster

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated foodie to join our team as Deli Supervisor for the afternoon/early evening shifts midweek only. This is a great role that will initially be on a casual basis but there will be opportunities to advance to permanent part-time or full-time positions in the future.

Ideally you have had experience in a delicatessen or similar environment and have supervisory experience. You love talking with customers about the provenance of food and get a genuine kick out helping customers try new things and discover new favourites. You are a great team player and actively motivate everyone in your team and keep energies high. You aren’t frantic, but you work quickly and calmly and can manage pressure with ease.

The store is currently open from 8am to 7pm, seven days a week with a likelihood that these hours may extend to 7am-8pm. We currently require a supervisor in the Deli for our afternoon/evening shift Monday-Friday. In the future, there could be the opportunity to move to a part-time or full-time role with a variation in hours.

CUSTOMER SERVICE / STORE CLERK / budding FOODIEs

We are a new type of grocery store. Smaller than a typical supermarket, we pride ourselves on stocking the best produce and gourmet delicacies with a focus on local produce. Our beautiful new store in Daylesford has a tight-knit, fun team and we are seeking additional team members to join us.

We are currently open from 8am until 7pm seven days a week however there is a likelihood that these hours will extend to 7am – 8pm every day. There are several positions available across all shifts and expect that all team members be flexible with their rosters.

Your role will be varied but will always involve amazing food and being bright, enthusiastic and very knowledgeable to our local customers. Duties can and will include stocking shelves, maintaining displays, working in the delicatessen, cashier duties and even barista work (once you have got the required training of course). It is not often you get the chance to work across the whole gamut of positions in this type of retail environment and with the Maxi Food Group there are very real and exciting career pathways for those employees that prove themselves to be exceptional.

ABOUT US

The Maxi Foods Group was founded by Brendan Blake in 1999 opening the store in Castlemaine as Maxi IGA. Since then Maxi Foods has provided a full grocery service to customers of Ballarat and Castlemaine. Blake Family Grocers is the first store of its type within the group and aims to focus on gourmet and artisan products for dedicated foodies.
